The Gilman Ranch is a historic treasure that remains “undiscovered” by most of Southern California. Its importance stems from the fact that it lies on the route used to travel between the desert and inland Southern California for thousands of years. Non-native use of the property dates to 1854 when Jose Pope acquired the site It went through other hands before James Marshall Gilman purchased it in 1869. The property remained in the Gilman family for nearly 100 years.
